Getting the feel for a school takes time, so we offer several ways to connect with TNS during the fall and winter.
There are many ways for prospective parents and students to get to know The New School.
Parent Visits
Many families begin with a Parent Visit. Having one-on-one time with our Director of Admissions gives parents a feel for the school and a chance to share their insights and educational goals. Visits last about 45 minutes and can be scheduled in the morning or afternoon during any school day. The best way to get to know The New School is to stand in it.

Student Visits
Students in 8th grade and above who are interested in learning more about The New School are invited to come for a morning visit. They will join the all-school morning meeting, sit in on classes, talk with students and meet TNS teachers. Student visit days take place on Wednesdays starting in October.
Open Houses
What makes TNS different?—Come find out. At our Open Houses, you’ll hear faculty and students talk about their experience as teachers and learners at The New School. You may hear an interview with 9th and 10th graders about getting to know Atlanta through project based work or a conversation with a senior in the midst of a year-long internship. Curious about our arts program? See a short film from this year’s filmmaking students or talk to a design student about their latest undertaking. Wondering what’s happening right now with everything from Economics and Calculus to AP English Lang and Environmental Science? Our teachers are here for a conversation with you. The same goes for current parents and students who came from many different middle schools and neighborhoods to call TNS home; they were once in your shoes and are glad to tell you what makes TNS a great fit.

Student Exhibitions
At the end of each semester TNS throws open its doors and invites parents, friends and community members to talk with students about the remarkable work they’ve been doing. Expect short plays, band performances, and memorable conversations with students at every grade level who are excited to share more about their learning journeys.
