Performance Band
Through a collaboration with CMC Atlanta, TNS students are encouraged to enroll in their ongoing Performance Workshop at their Little 5 Points location. CMC has offered free transportation for TNS students to the location on Thursday afternoons at no added cost to enrollees. On Thursdays, TNS students can go and collaborate with each other and CMC faculty to play rock, jazz, folk, classical music in small ensembles separated by experience and ability. The ensembles perform at locations around the city.
Performance Workshop training, rehearsals, classes and lessons prepare students for informal performance for peers and parents at local CMC Centers, but CMC also prepares and support students in public performances at a variety of local professional venues and on stage in high profile festivals. CMC students have performed at Variety Playhouse (pictured above), 7 Stages Theatre, Twains, the Wrecking Bar, the World of Coca-Cola, and they have participated in the L5P Halloween Festival, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, the Inman Park Festival, Tunes from the Tombs, the Decatur Business Association Breakfast with Santa, the Dunwoody Arts Festival, and more. Of course, not all students are quite ready for the public stage when they first join the Performance Workshop, but CMC employs a step by step approach to supporting students as they work their way to hitting the big stage, confidently prepared, with faculty and peers.
