Kaelin 3

This is a painting that I created because I wanted to develop my understanding of shadow and skin texture. This painting shows a lot of my development of these skills.

I used oil paint with a dramatic shadowing technique to create this painting. If I were to paint this again, I would have made some of the harsh lines softer. I think that would make her look more realistic. I enjoy that I did it this way because that background that I painted is very soft; I feel like this creates a good contrast. I like the color palette that I decided to go with. I used a lot of blue when I went into the skin tone.

I have been painting for the large majority of my life. I chose this painting because it demonstrates a lot of my progress and how I learned about form and texture.
